About the conference

The first time The Sociocultural Theory and Second Language Learning Research Working Group Meeting took place was in 1994 at the University of Pitsburg. At that initial gathering, ten researchers shared presentations on their ongoing projects.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

The Sociocultural Theory Second Language Learning Working Group brings together researchers from around the globe who share an interest in Vygotskian Sociocultural Theory and second language acquisition. Each year, members meet to explore and discuss interpretations of Vygotsky’s ideas as they relate to second language learning and teaching. Unlike conventional academic conferences, participants are encouraged to share work in progress and engage in collaborative dialogue, receiving constructive feedback from colleagues.
