We are pleased to announce that the 31st Annual Sociocultural Theory and Second Language Learning Working Group (SCT-L2 2026) will be held in São Paulo, Brazil, August 12, 13, and 14, 2026.
The format of SCT-L2 2026 will follow past practices of the SCT-L2 Learning Working Group:
· Presentations must be research in progress conducted from a Vygotskian Sociocultural Theory of Mind perspective and focused on the field of second language learning.
· Essential to this meeting is the process of seeking and providing feedback and discussion on research in progress in the form of suggestions and recommendations by attendees. Note: Please think carefully about how the audience can best help you in the timeframe given.
· Proposals should focus on:
a) theoretical/conceptual ideas,
b) pedagogical and curricular innovations, or
c) data analysis questions
Presenters are asked to propose a session in which at least half of the allotted time is reserved for Q&A, feedback, debate, or collaborative data analysis.
We welcome emergent scholars (especially graduate students), established scholars, and practitioners.
